They both have their good... you just have to look through the skill list to see which combo you might like better.
When you become mo/e... expect to be monk forever... while e/mo can switch between healing and damage.

I am thoroughly enjoying my ele/monk
61 energy at level 16
fire as offensive capability
switch between smiting (for undead killing missions) and healing (as a back up healer)
you get less hassle in PVE as they do not expect you to be the SOLE healer
and in PVP you get a few seconds grace as they usually target pure monks first

Overall divine favour is more useful if you want to heal than having 61 energy. Remember you only have 61 energy at the start of a battle, but divine favour bonus lasts the whole way through. If your focus is only on secondary healing though, el/mo is better.... cause you can nuke more. Not much more to it than that. I often use hench, and if i take the healer your secondary healing will be more than sufficient.

I've been wondering the same thing. E/Mo or Mo/E???? I understand that doing Mo/E or Mo/anything will make you a primary healer and more than likely you'd want the Divine Favor. But I also think that doing E/Mo with plus energy would be very nice. Max Healing, Max Smiting, 8 Protection, 8 Energy Storage would give some nice energy and still allow you to heal effectively. I'm starting to think its going to based solely on how you like it. Divine Favor is a nice extra bonus when healing, but fact is aside from PvP, during PvE especially the later missions you usually have 2 Monks. In all the groups I've played and have had 2 monks the only times we died was when someone wasn't playing organized and we had 2 people pull in more than one group of enemies. I think the most difficulty for a E/Mo will come in earlier missions when you only take one monk usually. If Divine Favor provides a bonus much better than extra energy then this will be where the problem is until groups start asking for 2 monks.
Just my two cents and thoughts about it. Never played a monk, just started mine and she's level 8. Debating on switching back and doing E/Mo.

I would say Mo/Ele. Why? Monk goes good with any class, and later in the game, you have the option of changing your secondary profession. That was my basis for making another character with monk as primary.

I like your thinking. I did decide to do Mo/N. Reason for this was well during PvE I will not use SoJ hardly ever if at all. It would probably only for soloing if I wanted to later. Second with the necro I can get the elite skill that regens Life/Energy. Later in the game when you're grouped with 6-8 players and have an extra monk or secondary healer I think the spell will be beneficial to melee characters maybe even casters depending on where corpse is. I'm thinking for in lines of what might be best for party. I do not now since this is my first monk EVER. So I'll try it out, worst case I'll change my sub when I get the chance.

From what I gather of the original question, you want to know how to make the greatest healer, not the greatest build.
I am an ele/mo, and I can tell you that a monk primary is a much better healer, for if you play and ele/mo, you will find your focus on elementalist spells, as it should be - your primary class should be just that, your PRIMARY class. Ele/mo is for keeping alive whilst blowing people up. Though ele/mo is probaly more powerful, if you want the ultimate healer, your primary should be monk.
As to if mo/ele is actually a good build, I can't say - I'm not a monk.
